Current Vice President for the Admin Section.  For CPRS District 12, I have served as the VP of Communications, Legislative Rep and the Presidential Series.  During my time as President for D12, I was the district rep for the highly successful Region 5 Mini-Conference.  From 2002 to 2008, I served as the Chair of the San Diego/Imperial Counties American Red Cross Aquatics Committee.  2009 I served as the Chair of the San Diego/Imperial Counties American Red Cross Health, Safety & Preparedness Committee.  2018 will be the 15th year I have been the lead Volunteer Instructor Trainer for the Memorial Day Blowout! where roughly 12 Instructor Trainers come together throughout the weekend to be a part of training and certifying up to 60 new WSI's at the lowest cost possible.

What role can you play in helping CPRS meet its vision?
In the communities we serve, we achieve the best results when our residents are loyal and engaged. Similarly, fostering a loyal and engaged CPRS community is critical to achieving the CPRS vision of advancing the park and recreation profession. As Region 5 Representative I will help the CPRS organization evolve with the new wave of professionals and advocate for implementing innovative and progressive methods for learning and connecting.

Marina Rabinovich

Recreation Supervisor
City of West Hollywood

What role can you play in helping CPRS meet its vision?
CPRS has played a tremendous role in my own development as a Recreation professional.  If elected as Region 5 Representative I want to serve as the conduit connecting young, up-and-coming professionals with colleagues and mentors from their local districts, surrounding communities, all the way to the state level!  I am a firm believer in Networking and as one of my CSULB professors used to say..."It's not about what you know, or who you know, but who knows YOU".  I want to make sure that the districts are getting the support they need to provide outstanding networking opportunities and trainings to their membership, and to ensure that communication, information and idea-sharing between State, Region, and District CPRS is robust and meaningful.

I currently serve as the California Foundation for Parks and Recreation Scholarship Committee Chair and have served on this committee for 3 years.  I have been an active participant in Women in Leisure Services (WILS) Gamma Chapter since 2004 and served on the WILS board as the Committee Coordinator, and chaired committees and several events over the years, such as Mentoring Committee, Bosses Day Event, Awards and Installation Event and others. While attending CSULB I served on the CPRS District 9 board as a student representative then served as a Committee Chair for the Recreation Consortium for District 10.  Also while attending Cal State Long Beach I served as Vice President of the Recreation Society.  What can I say, Recreation is my Passion!
