What personal attributes, skills, or knowledge would you bring to the State Board of Directors if elected?
With more than 33 years of experience in the Senior Services, Social Services, and the Recreation field, I had the opportunity to experience the need for quality programs and services. Programs and services that are quintessential to the quality of life for the communities that I have served, while being mindful of culture, inclusion, and accessibility for all. This is also in alignment with being cognizant of budgets, revenues, and opportunities for growth. One of my unique attributes is love of profession. I know that I have the opportunity to make a difference every day with patrons, programs, services, growing staff, and giving back to the profession that has built me.
Why have you chosen to run for the CPRS State Board of Directors?
I am CPRS, CPRS is its membership! I have chosen to run for CPRS State Board of Directors, Section Representative. I am a firm believer in giving back and CPRS has given me the opportunity to learn, to grow, to network, and to be part of its future. I want to play a role in supporting members and continue to make valuable professional connections that fosters mentorship, involvement, and dedication to the communities served by our membership.
What is the greatest challenge our profession faces and how will you lead to address that challenge?
Our profession has experienced many challenges and the pandemic was a true demonstration of assessing, adapting, and overcoming. We are resilient! As a profession, we want to thrive. A challenge that our profession faces is placing and increasing  value of the profession, programs, and services to our government leadership, partnering agencies, and our communities. We are a central service to our residents. Our profession plays valuable roles in local economics, increased community services, health and wellness benefits, and fosters lifelong learning. My goal would be to support members in sharpening the saw through awareness, involvement, and advocacy. While being a member I have built my toolkit, leaning from professionals that shared their knowledge and experiences. I am committed to the CPRS mission and advancement of the profession.
