The California Park and Recreation Society District 10 welcomes your interest in entering the process for our 2021 undergraduate or graduate Scholarship Awards. Last year, over $5,000 in Scholarships were awarded with scholarships ranging from $250 - $1,000. As part of the award scholarship, recipients will receive a one-year CPRS student membership which entitles them to a discounted registration to the 2022 CPRS Conference.

The prerequisites for applying are:

  1. You live, work or attend an accredited college in the District 10 area. Please refer to Attachment A for District 10 geographical boundaries.
  2. You maintain a full-time student status of 12 semester units or more (or quarter equivalent) or a part-time status of 6 semester units or more (or quarter equivalent) and are working 12-40 hours a week (to be verified). Graduate students must maintain 9 semester units for fulltime student status or 3 semester units and be working 12-40 hours per week for part-time status.
  3. Proof of at least 2.5 GPA for undergraduate and 3.0 GPA for graduate students.
  4. You are majoring in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Parks, Physical Education, Public Administration, Kinesiology, Gerontology or a closely related field.
  5. You are seeking a career in the recreation or parks profession.
A panel will review and evaluate each application on the basis of overall GPA, resume content, character references, and a one-page written statement. Candidates with the best qualifications will be invited to a virtual interview at to-be-determined time.

Attached is the 2021 District 10 Scholarship Application Packet. A completed packet (application form, two reference forms and official or unofficial transcripts, or two most recent report cards and the one-page written statement) are due by Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. (must be postmarked/emailed - faxed applications will not be accepted). Reference sheets should be completed by your reference, placed in a sealed envelope and returned along with your
application packet.
