    Hi District 15 Friends,
Check out the cool info below... what an awesome recognition for one of our colleagues!
    Have a great weekend,
    Stephanie

Good afternoon!  Peacock, the new NBCUniversal streaming service, is honoring Carlos Garcia, local park services coordinator for the rapid response team at City of Bakersfield Recreation & Parks, as one of the top Parks and Recreation officials in the country.

In celebration of the beloved sitcom Parks and Recreation becoming exclusively available to stream for free in its entirety on Peacock, the streaming service is recognizing five essential parks and recreation workers across the country. Garcia was chosen for his tireless work and dedication to the community – in just one year, his team has removed 18 tons of trash in a nearby riverbed, repaired numerous irrigation heads, and replaced multiple restroom gates, making a huge impact on the safety and cleanliness of the city's parks.

An interview between Garcia and actor Jim O'Heir, who played "Jerry Gergich" on Parks and Rec, will be available to stream on Peacock on Treat Yo' Self Day 2020 (Oct. 13), so viewers can learn about his inspiring story.

Details are below. We would love if you could share this news with your community ahead of Oct. 13, and are happy to arrange an interview with Garcia or provide additional assets for coverage consideration.

    Thank you!

WHAT: Parks and Recreation will be available to stream for free in its entirety exclusively on Peacock beginning Oct. 1.

To celebrate, Peacock is recognizing the nation's essential parks and recreation employees – the real-life Leslie Knopes and Ron Swansons who embody the series' ethos of hard work and good-heartedness. The streaming service partnered with the National Recreation and Park Association – the leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to building strong, healthy and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation – to identify outstanding employees who deserve to be applauded for working tirelessly to better their communities every day.

Actor Jim O'Heir, who played "Jerry Gergich" on Parks and Rec, will interview the honorees to help tell their inspiring and heroic stories. He will then present each with an award to thank them for creating a safe, friendly, and free place where everyone can escape to enjoy the great outdoors.

The interviews will be available on Peacock on Treat Yo' Self Day 2020 (Oct. 13). The holiday was created by Parks and Rec characters as a day of extravagance and has been embraced by fans who celebrate it annually.
