Hey BIG 3,
For the 2021 District 3 awards program the District 3 Board is looking forward to recognizing the events, programs and facilities that have best served our communities. We also know that we are in times of much financial uncertainty, so the Board has also decided to eliminate all award related fees for this year. We hope that this helps to create equity across the District to make applying for awards more accessible to everyone.
The categories for the awards this year are as follows:
- Outstanding Recreation Program/Special Event
- Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (JEDI) Impact Award **NEW**
- COVID Related Programming **NEW**
- Outstanding Facility/Park
- Lifetime Achievement Award
This year we are also introducing two new award categories that highlight the changing times of the profession: a COVID Related Programming Award and Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Impact Award.
I promise we made the application short and photos are optional as we know the struggles of staffing and safety. We are working on an event to recognize everyone's effort set for Tuesday, March 1. We will be making a decision shortly if the event will be virtual or in person. We know the value of having everyone gather and want to ensure health and safety.
