The California Natural Resources Agency received $5.3 million to fund programs that support youth access to natural and cultural resources, including community education and recreation amenities to support youth substance prevention. These listening sessions with local community members across the State will help them learn about types of projects and programs communities would like to see as a result of the new Youth Community Access Grant program.
Draft Application Guide Review Period for TWO New Prop 68 Competitive Grants!
The California Department of Parks and Recreation’s Office of Grants and Local Services is pleased to make available draft guidelines for the Regional Park and Rural Recreation and Tourism Programs.
The public review period of the Draft Application Guides for the Regional Park and Rural Recreation and Tourism Programs begins on September 1, 2019. Comments on the Draft Application Guides may be emailed until November 29, 2019. After the Draft Application Guides are finalized, application workshops and an application deadline will be announced for both programs.
Regional Park Program ($23,125,000)
This competitive program will create, expand, and improve regional parks and facilities across California.
Eligible Applicants: Counties, Regional Park Districts, Regional Open-Space Districts, and Open-Space Authorities, Joint Powers Authorities (at least one of the members is eligible on this list), 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organizations
Rural Recreation and Tourism Program ($23,125,000)
This competitive program will create new recreation opportunities in support of economic and health-related goals in rural communities across California. Projects must be located in nonurbanized counties with populations of less than 500,000 people and low population densities per square mile. Eligible Applicants: Cities, Counties, and eligible Districts in nonurbanized areas.
Recreational Trails and Greenways Grant Program Project Proposals Being Accepted
The California Natural Resources Agency will be accepting project proposals for the Recreational Trails and Greenways Grant Program from August 20, 2019 through October 11, 2019. Approximately $27.7 million in awards will be funded by the program. Applicants submitting the most competitive proposals will be invited to participate in the next level of the competitive process, anticipated mid-late December 2019.
The Trails and Greenways grant program, funded by Proposition 68, will fund projects that provide nonmotorized infrastructure development and enhancements that promote new or alternate access to parks, waterways, outdoor recreational pursuits, and forested or other natural environments to encourage health-related active transportation and opportunities for Californians to reconnect with nature.
