City Agency Softball Tournament

  • 1.  City Agency Softball Tournament

    Posted 05-03-2023 09:59 AM

    Good morning,

Back around 2009-2011 there used to be a City staff softball tournament hosted in the City of Diamond Bar. This tournament may have been put together by the City of Diamond or one of the SCMAF associations. It was always a lot of fun and a great way to bring staff together from surrounding agencies.

The City of Chino Hills is interested in bringing this back and we wanted to gauge interest from agencies within District 11 and other surrounding agencies. This would be a coed format with teams comprised of just City recreation staff. Games could be anywhere from 30-60 minute long, depending on scheduling and any modifications needed. Cost would potentially be around $100-140 per team with official fees around $15 per team per game.

If this is something your agency might have interest in participating in, can you please email Jesse Cortez (jcortez@chinohills.org) and myself (madams@chinohills.org).

Thanks and have a great day!

Beaumont would be interested in bringing a team.  I think it would be a great opportunity for a team building activity for our staff and a great opportunity to connect with other agencies.

    Sound fun!

Checking with my "Team" as well.  Something that may help is the 5 W's:

    Who

    What

    When

    Where

    Why

Thank you for getting this on the board.  I could see this expanding to do other events that City's could hold.  For instance maybe Lake Elsinore for Kayak races or pump track races (timed).....

I would agree; we'll check with the team for interest, but do need some more information.

I think the Doc is in San Bernardino County.  So if teams from the County are permitted to enter she should definitely join our team....

Thank you to everyone who has reached out expressing interest in this idea. Jesse and I were casually talking about this and thought it would be a great idea to potentially bring back. With the interest we received, we are going to start putting some details and information together and see what we can do to make this happen.

Our initial thoughts were to host this here in Chino Hills some time this summer on a Saturday. Ideally we would like to have it start in the afternoon and finish in the evening when so it's a bit cooler out. If this tournament moves forward and is a success, it's something we would like to keep going every year. It was a fun tradition back in the day and it would be a great networking opportunity too.

    We will keep everyone updated!

The potential date would be Saturday, July 15. The idea is to work this as a SCMAF/CPRS D11 with any money raised going back to D11 or both groups. We are working to finalize all the details and hope to have something together in the next few weeks.

Once we are ready to officially organize, the courting to see who "The Doc" plays for begins.

Get your teams ready because the coed agency softball tournament is officially a go! CPRS District 11, SCMAF, and the City of Chino Hills have partnered together to bring this fun event together.

The tournament date will be Saturday, July 15 with games hosted by the City of Chino Hills at Chino Hills Community Park. Tournament information included registration will be released early next week so be on the lookout.

I want to thank everyone who reached out to us in support of this event. I would have never expected the response we got. We had 14 agencies within district 11 express interest in wanting to put this together and we are excited to make it happen.

Hope to see you out there!

We'll get our team together.  You can count Menifee in.  Will there be a fee associated?

    Posted 06-12-2023 01:44 PM

Great! There will be a small team fee of $140 plus $15 umpire fee per game. Teams will be guaranteed a three game minimum. All proceeds raised will be going back to District 11 and SCMAF. The City of Chino Hills will not be receiving any compensation.

Registration should be opening today or tomorrow. We are just waiting to confirm the registration page is ready to go.
