    Cal State Long Beach Recreation Major Available

     

    Are you looking to connect your career goals and your academic goals? California State University, Long Beach Fall 2026 admissions are now open!

     

    Apply or transfer to CSULB from October 1st - December 1st where you can major in:

    • Parks and Recreation Management

      • Learn cutting edge theory and practice in managing parks, community centers, programs, youth and adult sports, contract classes, camps, and special events

    • Outdoor Recreation & Tourism

      • This path prepares you to blend visitor experience with resource preservation, leading to careers like park naturalists and sustainable tourism planners

    • Recreation Therapy

      • Train to use leisure activities, arts, sports, and play as therapeutic tools to improve the physical, social, and emotional well-being of individuals in healthcare and community settings

    2026-2027 CPRS Leadership Candidate Interest

    Do you aspire to lead the future of D10? Want to be part of an award-winning team?

     

    The Interest Form for those who are seeking to serve on the 2026-2027 CPRS D10 Board is now OPEN!

     

    Available positions for the 2026-2027 Board:

     

    Vice President: 3-Year Term (Part of Presidential Series)

    Function: Serve in an advisory capacity to the President; Serve as a voting member on the District 10 Board of Directors and Executive Board.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Attend the CPRS District/Section Summit

    2. Responsible for nominations and elections for open positions as well as section representatives

    3. Serve as parliamentarian for the District Board of Directors using Sturgis' The Standard Code of Parliamentary Procedure as the parliamentary authority.

    4. Distribute the Mark Feldman Professional Volunteer of the Year Award nomination form to the Board of Directors (This is done via Google form)

    5. Review fliers/outgoing correspondence to D10 membership

    6. Annual review of Resource Guide for updates

    7. Act as District liaison to all section representatives

     

    Treasurer: 2-Year Term

    Function: Perform Treasurer function for District 10 Board of Directors; Serve as a voting member on the District 10 Board of Directors and Executive Board.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Arrange transfer of signature for District 10 bank accounts

    2. Receive and distribute all District funds on approval of the membership and or the District 10 Board of Directors

    3. Reconcile District checking and savings accounts with bank statements

    4. Provide and reconcile monthly financial reports at District 10 Board of Directors meetings

    5. Provide annual audit of District 10 financial accounts for presentation to the District 10 Board of Directors and the CPRS State Office

    6. Assist with budget preparation with the President, President Elect and VP's approval.

    7. Prepare recommendations for fiscal action for the District Board of Directors

    8. Invoice and reconcile payments for all District 10 coordinated events and trainings

    Director of Programs: 2-Year Term

    Function: Responsible for coordinating all General Membership Meetings and District programs; provide oversight and direction to Programs Committee Chair; Serve as a voting member on the District 10 Board of Directors and Executive Board.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Appoint Committee Chairs to Awards Program, and Programs chair with approval from the incoming President

    2. Organize and compile a yearly activity calendar, which lists all activities by month, including date, locations, and times. Collaborate with related professional organizations (SCMAF, WILS, MILS, etc.) to establish a coordinated calendar

    3. Preside at General Membership Meetings in absence of President

    4. Provide oversight and direction to Programs and Award Committee Chairs and attend committee meetings

    5. Participate in the Awards Committee and attend meetings as required

    6. Coordinate (or collaborate with other professional organizations, Districts or Sections) a minimum of three (3) trainings and/or workshops per year for D10

    7. Coordinate and host four (4) Brochure Exchanges annually

    8. Coordinate two (2) socials each year for the District 10 membership

    Dues Relief

    D10 provides Dues Relief to remove a financial barrier that would prevent members from attending events, trainings, and or renewing their membership. 

     

    All D10 members are encouraged to apply. Non-CPRS members are encouraged to apply to receive membership.

    Dues relief applications can also be submitted for CONNECTIONS 2026!

    Conference is scheduled to take place Tuesday, March 10 - Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Long Beach Convention Center, and you can apply for a chance to have your professional training fees covered!

    Applications will be accepted September 1 - October 31, 2025.
