Promoting Whole Person Wellness for Successful Aging
Pretend by Debbie Rose, PHD, FNAK, Professor and Chair Emerita, Department of Kinesiology, Director Emerita, Center for Successful Aging California State University, Fullerton
In this presentation, you will be introduced to the whole-person wellness model developed by Montague (1994) and the research supporting a multidimensional approach to wellness in promoting successful aging. How each of the six dimensions described in the model can be easily integrated into community-based programming designed for older adults will also be described. Adopting a wellness approach is intended to shift the focus from what people cannot do to what they can do! Age, illness, physical and/or mental ability need not limit the perceived level of wellness that an individual can achieve.
