The California Department of Parks and Recreation's Office of Grants and Local Services (OGALS) is pleased to announce that an additional $41.9 million will be awarded to unfunded Round 4 Statewide Park Program (SPP) applications. The $41.9 million additional appropriation was provided through the 2023/2024 State Budget. Additional applications will not be accepted.
On March 21, 2021, OGALS received $2.42 billion in grant requests for Round 4 of the Statewide Park Program. The department was able to award $548.3 million to projects throughout California; however, approximately, $1.87 billion in requests were left unfunded. The remaining competitive Round 4 SPP applications are currently under review for the additional $41.9 million. OGALS' Competitive Review Project Officers will contact select Round 4 applicants to discuss the proposed project's status and request cost estimate and funding source updates. Additional information may be requested from those applicants whose applications are deemed the most competitive by OGALS. The additional $41.9 million in SPP grant awards will be announced this winter.
