District 2 is your local connect to the California Park & Recreation Society. It is the largest geographic district serving the following counties: Alpine, Amador, Butte, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, Yolo and Yuba. With more then 60 park & recreation agencies in District 2 we are dedicated to enhancing the park & recreation profession in our district.

District 2 provides members a vehicle of recognition, support, education, and development for services and activities within the district.

  • Why Not You? Discover the Impact of CPRS Leadership: 9/17, 1 - 2 p.m.

    Have you ever wondered what it would be like to serve on the CPRS D2 Board? Curious if you’re qualified, what the commitment entails, or how it could benefit you both professionally and personally? Join us for a one-hour conversation where past CPRS State Board President, current and former CPRS D2 Presidents, current Region 1 Representative, and others will share how their involvement in CPRS has positively impacted their careers and lives.

    We'll also discuss the open board positions for the 2025 term and explore opportunities for you to get involved with CPRS D2 this year.

  • D2 2025 Park Forum Save the Date & Call for Sessions!

    District 2 is proud to announce the return of the 3rd Annual Park Forum Event in 2025! SAVE THE DATE - The 2025 Park Forum will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 8:30AM - 1:45PM at the Maidu Community Center in Roseville, CA. Registration opens soon and is $35 per person, $25 per Student or $160 when you register 5 attendees.

    The Call for Sessions is now open for this event! Do you have an idea or topic you would love to present? If you are interested in leading a session, please submit your session proposal using the CPRS online system HERE, make sure to check mark the "Park Forum" box in the "About Your Session" section. We encourage you to submit a session proposal surrounding the following themes: Technical Skills (i.e. turf management, irrigation, tree trimming, playgrounds, hands-on demo's, etc.), General Leadership, Administration, Park Planning, Technology in the Field and more!

    This year's event will include three educational periods with even more sessions to chose from, lunch, opportunities to network and an opening keynote session presented by Jill Gellar, Parks, Recreation & Libraries Director for the City of Roseville. Last year's event was a sell out - please stay tuned to find out when registration opens and register early to secure your seat!   • YTRS Leadership Positions Now Open!

    YTRS Leadership Elections Are Open!

    The Youth, Teen, and Recreation Services (YTRS) is thrilled to announce that officer elections are now open! YTRS is a subgroup of the California Park & Recreation Society's District 2. YTRS is available to recreation professionals to create a network of professionals to support growth, staff development and implement projects, events, workshops, as well as trainings that address issues that affect youth and teen professionals of the Sacramento region. We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to fill the following positions: Co-Chair, Secretary, Events Representative, Public Relations Representative, Training Representative - Youth, Training Representative - Teen, Training Representative - Preschool, and Training Representative – Camps. Every position except for the Co-Chair will be a one-year term.
