Joey Barrera is the Recreation Supervisor for the City of Watsonville Parks & Community Services department where he is privileged to bring impactful aquatic and sports programs to the wonderful community he was born and raised in. Joey began his recreation career in 2007 and has held various leadership roles in youth development, sports, aquatics and administration. Prior to his current role, Joey spearheaded a partnership between the City of Salinas and Central Coast YMCA where he led operations for the Salinas Aquatic Center and Sherwood Tennis Center. Outside the professional sphere, Joey enjoys Disneyland trips with his family, talking shop with other rec professionals and is currently learning how to surf.
