Greg has been the Director for the City of San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Department since 2019. The Department has comprehensive oversight of seven divisions made up of Aquatics, Community Services (classes, events, sports, seniors), Facilities, Golf, Open Space, Public Art, and Youth Services. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management from Cal State Long Beach and a graduate degree in Educational Leadership from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Greg has been dedicated to the field of both community and campus recreation for over 30 years getting his start in recreation as a lifeguard and swim instructor that led him on his early career path in aquatics. During his early career working for the City of San Ramon, he held a variety of positions in CPRS District 3, as well as being a founding member of the CPRS Aquatic Section, culminating as the Aquatic Section President in 1999-2000. Greg switched career paths to work in campus recreation spending nearly 20 years at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in a variety of roles and concluding as Campus Recreation Director. In 2019, Greg joined the City of San Luis Obispo in the role of Director. Greg has a passion for professional development and a wide-range of experience in risk management, community programming, facility design and operations, as well as teaching.
