  • Contract Instructor Questions

    Hello District One!

    I’m reaching out because I need your help. I am hoping you can share with me how your department handles business with Contract Instructors who teach or run programs within your department. This could be someone teaching an Arts and Crafts Class, a Zumba Class or running a Youth Soccer Class. If you can answer the following questions I would be so very thankful! The Risk Manager is in the process of implementing new requirements and we really need some guidance on how other departments are handling their Contract Instructors.

    1. Your Organization and Department
    2. Do you require your Contract Instructors to have:
      • General Liability Insurance? If so what is the amount? Is the limit higher for sport programs?
      • Auto Insurance? If so what is the amount?
      • Workers Compensation for their employees (if they have any)
      • (Professional/molestation) Liability Insurance? 
      • Educators Legal Liability Insurance?
      • A business license with your City or Town?
      • A TB Test (if it’s a youth class or program)
      • Mandated reporting training
      • Background/Fingerprinting
    3. Is there anything else that you do require that is not listed above?
