    Happy Monday!

For those of you have a dog park...we are in search of some quick information, so if you can, PLEASE help us out!

    1. How big is your dog park? Do you recommend a minimum size?

    2. Is it a stand-alone park or part of a larger park?

        a. if stand alone, is there dedicated parking and how big (size or # spaces)?

    3. If part of a larger park, what is the impact to the park?

4.. What are the busiest times at the dog park?

Thank you so much, we appreciate your time!

    Sincerely,

    Jenni Worsham

This is Keith from Mission Viejo.

1.The City Dog Park La Paws Dog park is about 7 acres. About 3.5 acres of flat area. The rest of the area are slopes.

    2. I would recommend .5 acres minimum for the small dog area and at least 1-1.5 acres for the large dog area. The Mission Viejo dog Park has a 3rd areas referred to as the "Single Owner" use area. This area is to be used no more then 30 minutes and for only a single. People us this area for training or a place to exercise new dogs or dogs that do not have the best temperament.

    3. Our Park is stand alone and there area about 50 spaces.

    4. This is the busiest park in the City and it is cyclical 8-11am and 4-8pm are the busiest during the week the weekends all day long.

    5. Shut Down- we are shut down on Thursdays from 8am-1pm for maintenance.

    I hope this helps.

    Jenni,

We have a 3-Acre Dog Park located in Yorba Park that is overall 8.5 acres. The dog park is divided for small and large dog areas with the small dog area being much smaller in size to the large dog area. I would not recommend a dog park smaller than 3 acres. The larger it is, the easier it is to maintain as the impact from the dogs is displaced. The parking lot has 63 spaces and is near capacity at times on the weekends. The busy times are mornings and early evenings. The overall park is not adversely impacted as it is not a heavily used passive park otherwise.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Jenni,

    Please see below:

    1. 2.3 acres, of which roughly .4 is dedicated to small or elderly dogs. Under 3 acres as a whole is plenty.

    2. As of now, it is a stand alone park. There is a plan to relocate it to an existing park. We have 30+ parking spaces now, and it is not enough on most nights and weekends.

    3. N/A, but parking would be a concern if it was.

    4. On weeknights its the hours between 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. On weekends, Sunday morning/afternoon is the busiest.

    Good morning Jenni,

The Costa Mesa Bark Park is a 2-acre stand-alone dog park located just outside TeWinkle Park which is 49 acres. Our dog park is divided into two areas for small (.5 acre) and large dogs (1.5 acres). The parking lot has 76 parking spaces, which is also shared with the Skate Park. The park is frequently used throughout the day, with the evenings and weekends seeing the highest traffic. Our park is open Thursday – Tuesday from 7:30am – 8:45pm and closed on Wednesdays for maintenance.

    I hope this helps.
