The past two years have been full of challenges (and opportunities) in the development of section programs due to COVID-19 restrictions. Despite that, D&O was able to host two section trainings dedicated to the operations and maintenance of park facilities. The first was the “2021 Virtual Park Symposium” held in March 2021 via Zoom to an audience of 131 participants representing all 5 CPRS Regions and 15 Districts. The second was "Batteries Required: Transitioning to Electrical Landscaping in Parks” held in January 2022. This hybrid program hosted an audience of 63 participants both in-person and virtually. These successes were heightened by the impeccable leadership from the D&O Board including President Bryan Peck and Secretary John Courtney.
We are proud to announce that these efforts were awarded during the 2022 CPRS CONNECTIONS Conference and Expo held last week in Sacramento. To begin, the 2021 Virtual Park Symposium was awarded the esteemed CPRS “Board 100 Award” for achieving ENDS objectives in multi-topic education, networking and distinctive connection with members. Next, President Bryan Peck and Secretary John Courtney were both awarded a “Citation of Merit” for their dedication and commitment to CPRS.
In fact, since 2008, Bryan has served CPRS as a Regent/Regent Emeritus with Maintenance Management School providing excellence in education and mentoring. Bryan has also spent the last 3 years serving on the Development and Operations Board. As the Vice President, Bryan hosted the successful 2019 Park Symposium to record attendance. As the current D&O President, Bryan has led the Board to success in communications, outreach and education.
Over the past 11 years, John has volunteered his valuable time to serve on a variety of CPRS work groups including District 2, the A-Team Legislative Committee, Development and Operations Board and the Parks Make Life Better Branding Campaign. During his recent tenure with D&O, John has coordinated web-based digital content, created a quarterly newsletter and provided expertise on virtual programming.
Please join us in congratulating both Bryan and John on their well-deserved accolades. We look forward to seeing you all again soon in 2022!
