  • Grant Opportunity from NRPA

Physical activity is important at any age, but according to a recent MMWR report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in four adults 50 years and older are physically inactive. For adults 50+, physical activity can help relieve arthritis symptoms and contribute to overall health and wellbeing.

With support from the CDC, NRPA is offering 300 instructor training grants to park and recreation employees. The grants will be awarded in the form of instructor training to implement evidence-based arthritis intervention programs in local park and recreation departments. Those applying for the grant can apply to receive training for either Walk With Ease or Active Living Every Day. For more information and to apply visit NRPA.

This is a great opportunity to increase physical activity options for adults 50+ in your community. Grant applications are due Friday, December 16. To learn more about the programs and the application process, register for the Instructor Training Grant: Adults 50+ Physical Activity Programs informational webinar on December 1, 2016 from 2pm-3pm (EST).
