Greetings Members!
Happy New Year and welcome back to work! In the vein of #newyearnewme, we -the board- look forward to rolling out many new things in 2017. We ask that you please take 5 minutes to vote for the following items next week!
1. Bylaw Update – We have worked tirelessly as a board to update our bylaws to better reflect those of the Society’s Board. We ask you to consider voting for our updated Bylaws, which will establish a new presidential series – Vice President, President Elect, and President. (See complete bylaws attached.)
2. Purpose Statement – We recognized a need to refocus our energy and better serve you the membership. We also recognized that you all have a unique focus as well as many different titles that make you valuable leaders in our industry. With that, we have developed a new purpose: The purpose of the Recreation Section is to provide innovative education, resources and networking opportunities, while encompassing a diverse section of recreation. We foster empowerment of professionals at all levels of programming.
3. Recreation Section – We have also worked to reinvent our name to be more inclusive and open to all recreation leaders from Recreation Specialists to Supervisors. For a long time we have had a strong misconception that “Recreation Supervisor’s Section” reflects just those in our industry with the tile “Recreation Supervisor.” We continue to work to educate and include all levels of leadership into our section, but generally feel it is time to be more inclusive and become the Recreation Section.
