Wanted to determine if any organizations that offer aquatics programming have the following:

    • Therapeutic recreation targeting participants suffering from muscular skeletal injuries that would benefit from low impact aqua physical therapy and/or special needs participants needing range of motion aqua physical therapy.
      1. If yes, is this a contract class or do you work with a non-profit organization to provide the activity? How is it structured contractually?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello,

In Carson, we have a Therapeutic Recreation section that we partner with for summer swim lessons.  They take care of the registration part and we conduct the lessons.  We are both under the same department... so it makes it is easier to work together.

    Hi Tim!

In Mission Viejo, we designate 2 lanes in the afternoon, 3 times per week, as an "Aqua Therapy" lane.  However, we keep our pool at 86 degrees.  any pool wanting to provide true aqua therapy should technically be above 90 degrees from what I have researched.  We don't advertise it as aqua therapy, but we have had a growing number of users that range in need from rehab, weight, and bone issues.  As of date we have not had any contracts with aids or RT professionals, but would welcome it if I had a 90 degree pool!

    good luck!

    Hi Nancy,

Thank you for the suggestion.  To date, I have not contacted Ability First.  It will be on my "to do" list!

    Thank you,

    Hi Lydie-

Hope you are doing well!  Thank you for the response, it is appreciated.

We are coming up against the pool temp issue as well. Should be an interesting off-season for the both of us!

    Take care,

    Tim
