    Hi Fellow CPRSians,

Quick question - Has anyone started a youth advisory committee in their City? I am potentially interested in started one but I have no idea where to start, so any direction you might be willing to share would be very helpful! Thank you!

We started a YAC in the City of Claremont back in the 90's (not sure if/how it still operates). I will PM you with the name of a current contact there.

I will also send you information on our 2 youth boards here in the City of Monrovia (where I am a Commissioner). We have a Youth Commission as well as a Teen Advisory Board.

    Hi Ashleigh,

We do have a Youth Committee in the City of Laguna Niguel. Here's some information on our city's website, along with the link to their direct page. Their direct page will be merged with the City's website beginning in July. https://www.cityoflagunaniguel.org/46/Youth-Committee

Please contact Recreation Supervisor, Gretchen Malcolm for more information, as she directly oversees this committee. gmalcolm@cityoflagunaniguel.org

    Thank you,

    Hi Ashleigh,

We have a Youth Action Committee (YAC) here in the City of Cypress for High School students grades 9th-12th. We work in conjunction with the City of La Palma on this program, as we are two small towns and the residents mix within the high school boundaries. I would be happy to talk to you and send you any documents I have.
Please feel free to contact me at the information below.

    Thank you,

    Hi Ashleigh,

The Laguna Niguel Youth Committee was created when our City Council made a resolution establishing it and stating the Youth Committee's purpose, their responsibilities, the maximum number of members (15) and how often they would meet. Our Youth Committee meets monthly during the school year in Council Chambers and two liaisons from City Council also attend. You can find more information at LNteens.org. (As Kaori mentioned, after June 30, LNteens.org will redirect to the Youth Committee's page on our City website.)

    Thank you,
    Sheila Huettl
