    All,

We are currently exploring using "bio-degradable" dog waste bags.  Does anyone currently use them?  If so, what has been your experience and who do or have you purchased them from?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated,

We eliminated providing bags and just offer the receptacles in key areas of the community.  We saved over $12k the first year (about 8 years ago) with only five receptacles.  Most pet owners got used to bringing their own bags.

Just an fyi- "biodegradable" and "compostable" seem to be used interchangeably, but my friend who works for Recology did inform me that "compostable" is the true term for an item breaking down naturally within 10 years or less, while anything else like plastic can be 'biodegradable'- it'll only take 700 years. Something to keep in mind when buying products that market themselves as biodegradable vs. compostable.

The universe must be listening.  We just received an email ad for compostable bags from BeyondGreen.  Here's a link to their website.
