I am reaching out to inquire about your rules regarding jewelry in your adult recreational sports leagues, specifically for basketball. Currently, the City of Burbank enforces a NO JEWELRY rule, except for medical jewelry, which must be taped. Neither high school nor college basketball permits jewelry during play.
However, with the changing times and the popularity of piercings, many players are expressing concerns about restrictions on facial and ear piercings, particularly those that are permanent or semi-permanent.
I would appreciate your feedback. Would you please provide me with the following information?
1. What is your agency's current rule regarding jewelry?
2. Are there any exceptions for medical or religious jewelry?
3. Are there any exceptions for facial jewelry, such as using tape or headbands?
4. Do you allow adult participants to sign a waiver or a statement of non-liability if they wish to wear jewelry, whether covered or uncovered?
- If so, please attach it to your response.
5. Are accommodations available, such as using tape or band-aids to cover piercings?
Thank you for your assistance.
