    Hi Everyone!

The City of Westlake Village is almost done with construction on our new pickleball courts. I'm curious to hear how those of you who have pickleball courts run them, i.e. rules and regulations, if you allow classes on the courts, are they only available for open play, do you have a pickleball ambassador, etc.

Any information you can share is much appreciated.

    Thank you!!

    Hi Kaitlyn,

We are also nearing completion of our Pickleball courts and also curious how we will handle the demand. We are of course open to the public on a first come first serve basis, but I am considering a reservation / booking for tournaments. Any ideas will be helpful.

    Thank you

    Hi everyone,

In the City of Paso Robles, we've got 5 pickleball courts and 6 more on the way. We keep ours open to the public most of the time, except the official Pickleball Club here operates as a contract class and has access M-F from 8-11am. They purchase memberships through our rec department. The courts are also available for reservations, which only happens a few times per year.

For security, we keep a combo lock on the courts which helps keep off skateboards, bikes, dogs, etc. To get the combo, folks have to call our office number. The combo is on our outgoing voicemail in case we're closed. It's been working pretty well and we've had minimal damage or vandalism.

    Good luck!

Thank you, Wyatt! Do you happen to have any pictures of the signage at your courts? Like for rules or do's/dont's?

    Hi Kaitlyn,

How exciting that construction is almost done on your new courts!

CRPD currently maintains 12 outdoor pickleball courts that are reserved for classes, leagues, lessons and tournaments, in addition to being open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.  We have an on-site bulletin board at each respective court where availability is posted.  All courts are programmed for lights until 10 p.m.

CRPD also maintains indoor pickleball courts at the Thousand Oaks Community Center (3 courts) and the Dos Vientos Community Center (2 courts). The public can visit the community centers for information on their respective hours of use.

In January of this year we entered into an agreement with the Ventura County Pickleball Club (VCPC) for the purpose of providing them rights to conduct 4 tournaments per year on our Rancho Conejo Playfield Pickleball Courts. As part of the agreement, VCPC pays the district 30% of the collected gross revenue from the player registration fees.

Outside of the 4 tournaments with VCPC, we do not have the capacity to approve additional pickleball reservations/permits, as CRPD is currently saturated with pickleball classes, leagues, and a high demand for open hours for public use.  Having said that, we are committed to strive to meet the Community's needs and continue to review opportunities that arise for new properties, partnerships, etc,

I hope this information is a little helpful and best of luck with your new facilities!! I'm sure your new courts will help ease some of court availability challenges

Thank you for all the info, Kara! That is super helpful! Do you happen to have any photos of the signage that are at your courts? If not, no worries, we'll probably be taking some field trips around the area to get a feel for everyone's set ups too.
