  • 1.  Insurance for Contract Instructors: SAM

    Posted 02-12-2025 02:07 PM

    Hello-

I am looking for information on how other cities handle contract instructors who work with minors and SAM insurance requirements.

Established businesses do not have any issues obtaining SAM insurance, but we are working with some non-established businesses who want to teach youth classes.

The cost for them to get a SAM insurance policy is high if they can find a provider.

Does anyone have an insurance company that writes SAM policies for contract instructors?

How are you navigating SAM insurance with your contract instructors?

    Thanks for any info!

    Hi Allison,

The City of Watsonville has created part-time Recreation Class Instructor positions (I-III) as an option for individuals to become employed with the City. We also have individuals and organizations who are traditional contracted instructors, meeting the insurance requirements.

    Best Wishes,

    Jessica
