Title: Promoting Whole Person Wellness for Successful Aging
In this presentation, you will be introduced to the whole-person wellness model developed by Montague (1994) and the research supporting a multidimensional approach to wellness in promoting successful aging. How each of the six dimensions described in the model can be easily integrated into community-based programming designed for older adults will also be described. Adopting a wellness approach is intended to shift the focus from what people cannot do to what they can do! Age, illness, physical and/or mental ability need not limit the perceived level of wellness that an individual can achieve.
