Stanislaus County is recruiting to fill a paid Student Internship vacancy in the Parks and Recreation Department. This position is open to current college students who have completed their coursework and are looking to fulfill their undergraduate program internship requirements to obtain a B.S. or B.A degree in Recreation or a similar field. To be considered for this internship program, submit a cover letter and resume to Marketing Coordinator, Heidi Hidalgo. The City of Sunnyvale Department of Library and Recreation Services is seeking several interns (each semester) to assist in the following work units: 1) Marketing & Events; 2) Arts and Senior Center; 3) Youth & Teens; and 4) Youth & Family Resources. At least one intern will be selected to work in each unit. The intern will have a special project that will be their main assignment as well as assist the work unit with other programs, activities or projects. The internship is designed to meet at least 480 hours in a minimum of 13-14 weeks. If University programs require additional hours, this internship is flexible to add hours to meet most requirements. The Planning Unit, within the Capital and Planning Division, plans for the future of our open spaces and works on a wide range of projects that support open space improvements, development, and park acquisitions, as well as a variety of land use issues related to the City’s park system. The unit works on environmental compliance, land use planning, urban design, code enforcement, historic preservation, park improvement plans, acquisitions, grant writing, transportation demand management and public outreach as relevant to park properties. The unit is comprised of six planners, an analyst and three interns.
Preferred candidates should be current graduate students in an Urban Planning, Geography, or similar graduate program, with at least one year left of schoolwork.
