Why have you chosen to run for the CPRS State Board of Directors?
I have over 25 years of experience in the public service sector.  I am well rounded in numerous fields in Parks and Recreation including: municipal golf courses, aquatics, urban forestry, parks operations, facilities maintenance, historic sites, adult & youth sports, after-school programs, camps, community outreach, grants, commissions and more.  I have my masters in public administration and have served on numerous boards and commissions.  My greatest skill and personal attribute that I would bring to the board is my willingness to help, support and share insights and knowledge that I have learned throughout my career from my fellow colleagues and CPRS members.  I am personable and approachable.  A key role of CPRS is reaching out to our fellow members and sharing information and assisting each other whenever and wherever possible in order to strengthen and grow our profession.

What personal attributes, skills, or knowledge would you bring to the State Board of Directors if elected?
CPRS has been an integral part of my growth, development and career advancement in Parks and Recreation.  I want to continue to surround myself with strong and inspiring Parks and Recreation professionals and continue to expand my knowledge as well as do my part to continue the advancement of our amazing profession.  I want to give back and support those entering the profession and share what I have learned and experienced throughout my career so far.

What is the greatest challenge our profession faces and how will you lead to address that challenge?
One challenge that our profession continues to face is the ongoing necessity to show that our services are essential.  We have to continue demonstrate how Parks and Recreation directly impacts the quality of life for our community.  We have to show that our open space have a direct impact on mental and physical well being, that our after-school programs have a direct impact on reducing juvenile crime rates, that learning to swim is a life saving skill...  We address this challenge be coming together and being a united voice using common language and by continuing to advance our profession together.
