What personal attributes, skills, or knowledge would you bring to the State Board of Directors if elected?

With more than 25 years of experience in the recreation field, most of which have been with District 11 agencies, I had the opportunity to experience firsthand the need to be creative with budgeting, revenue, and many other areas to enhance and continue to serve our communities. Over that time, our profession has grown, and the need to connect with other professionals has increased across Region 4 and the State. One of my unique attributes is passion. Without a passion for what you are doing and your "why" - it is not possible to ideally perform your job of serving the communities and the membership. I have a strong desire to help others through improving education, connections, and resources, which I hope to continue while on the State Board of Directors.

Why have you chosen to run for the CPRS State Board of Directors?

CPRS exists for the success of its members and whose vision is that members are united in their commitment to improving people's lives. Having a role in achieving this vision would be an honor. By running for the CPRS State Board position of Secretary/Treasurer I will be granted an opportunity to help connect with members across the state to ensure they have the necessary support and networks which will assist them in strengthening the community they serve. I am determined to take each challenge head-on and do what is needed to help encourage not only a diversity of viewpoints and strategic leadership but also focus on facilitating open communication with the State Board, the members, and CPRS Staff.

In the position of Secretary / Treasurer, I will also strive to support CPRS’ governance model which engages the Board around CPRS’ future and strategic direction. I will continue to demonstrate my commitment to CPRS, its mission, goals, and the profession’s promise.

What is the greatest challenge our profession faces and how will you lead to address that challenge?

Over the years, our profession has faced many challenges. Our members have been challenged to not only reimagine programming to innovative and unimaginable limits, but are now faced with new challenges with unique demands with the ever changing labor force and many more. Our members continue to be dedicated to strengthening the community and it is my goal to continue to provide the members unique tools to help position themselves as a vital community service. Whether through advocacy, education, resources, or just connections, I am dedicated to continuing the mission of CPRS for the members we serve.
